We stay in the charming and newly restored B&B Antico Borgo, perched half way down the steep spur of Caramanico’s medieval quarter. Several of the en-suite rooms have wonderful views across the valley to Monte Morrone and there is a delightful grassy terrace on which to relax in the shade of a tree with a good book.
Alternatively, enjoy the modern facilities and comfortable en-suite rooms of the 3-star Hotel Pescofalcone, on a quiet street 3 minutes walk from the town’s central piazza. The en-suite rooms have all been recently refurbished and on the ground floor there is comfortable seating around an open fireplace. Our Original Car-Free Escapes stay at the Pescofalcone, within easy walking distance of shops, bars and restaurants, museums, the outdoor swimming pool and of course the thermal baths.

From July to mid-September, Caramanico holds its annual Summer Festival, and on many evenings you will find somewhere in the town an exhibition, outdoor cinema, wood & wine tasting or music & dancing.
In the tiny rural village of Decontra we stay at Number 31, in a stylishly restored traditional cottage which offers a private unit of sitting room, 2 charming double bedrooms and a bathroom. It is very comfortable, rustically furnished, with vaulted ceilings and magnificent views from all rooms. It has an extensive garden, including two shady terraces, and, in season, a natural stone plunge-pool. Anyone wishing to guarantee Number 31 for a one-room booking may do so for a small supplement.
Also offering two bedrooms is the delightful terraced cottage “Il Pollaio” (The Hen House!). This carefully restored cottage is situated close to Il Cervo restaurant and has views across the village and its own well equipped kitchen. It is ideal for families and those wishing to cook for themselves on some evenings. Although this is self-catering accommodation, if you choose an Original Escape breakfast supplies will be provided – all you have to do is help yourself.
We also stay at the beautifully restored Agriturismo Pietrantica which has simply furnished en-suite bedrooms with natural stone details, and serves sumptuous breakfasts.
Upland Escapes guests at Il Pollaio and at the Agriturismo Pietrantica are very welcome to enjoy the gardens and pool of Number 31. On
