Activities and Places of Interest

Guillaumes, fifteen minutes down the valley, has a fascinating little local museum, a variety of shops and an outdoor swimming pool. Just north of the town is La Lavandula Vera, dedicated to medicinal and aromatic plants grown in the surrounding mountains, which they distil into natural potions, lotions and essential oils. Spend a day exploring the area by mountain bike, following the new self-guided cycling routes. Organised activities such as bungee jumping from a bridge in the Daluis gorge, and canoeing and white water rafting can also be arranged locally, as well as canyoning, climbing and some via ferrata cliff-walks with harnesses. The ski resort at Valberg offers a number of child-friendly entertainments such as horse-riding, bungee trampolining, summer luge and a forest adventure course, as well as a more complete range of shops. Further down the Var valley the small historic town of Entrevaux is beautifully preserved, a network of narrow alleys and little squares leading from the fortified gatehouse to the impressive cathedral; the fortress and its museum are perched high above, linked to the town by zig-zag ramps that cut across the steep escarpment.
